FLOW RESTORATION IN THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS

THE METHOD of chemical cleaning and flow permeability restoring is based on an effective, safe and convenient process of removing the deposits and sediments caused by corrosion (such as the boiler scale). Thanks to this process the flow and full efficiency of the installation is restored. The technology invented and implemented by the Specialistic Enterprise LEMAT is based on the method of flushing out the sediments created by a group of scientists from the Wroclaw Polytechnic. This method has been verified and given positive references by the Institute of Industrial Techniques in Warsaw. LEMAT has been using this method to flow restore of many installations in Warsaw, earning recognition and satisfaction of its users. Combining the technology of flow restoring together with the LEMAT-2 system of electrochemical corrosion protection creates an extremely effective and efficient solution in the battle against corrosion of these hydraulic systems, which are already in the advanced phase of exploitation.

THE LEMAT TECHNOLOGY OF FLOW RESTORING finds application in hydraulic systems built as a closed circuit, such as central heating, technological heat and other heating or cooling systems. This process may be performed in installations made of black steel pipes, copper pipes or pipes made of different components. LEMAT also specializes in the cleaning of heat exchangers of different types.

THE METHOD used to remove the effects of corrosion and sediments created throughout exploitation is based on the gradual dosage of the specific preparation - HYDROKOMPLEKSON, which gradually and smoothly dissolves the sediments. A specially constructed flushing unit is responsible for accurate dosage of the preparation - it also induces the circulation of the cleaning factor in the installation. This unit is connected to the installation instead of the circulation pumps. The amount of the cleaning factor depends on the structure of the installation and on the amount of sediments and sludge banks inside. It is also determined by the speed of change of the pH level, which indicates the progress of the cleaning process. The sediments that are being dissolved create a suspension that can be easily removed and does not create a risk of the installation being blocked. The process of flow restoring and cleaning takes 10-15 days and is considered as finished when the pH level is stable. Then a one-day process of flushing the installation with the normal water takes place.

A plan of connecting the flushing unit to the central heating installation

A great virtue of the LEMAT flushing system is the possibility to apply it to the heating installations that are being used without influencing their work. Thanks to that the efficiency of the cleaning process is increased, due to the fact that increased temperature speeds up the process of dissolving the sediments. Cleaning the cooling installations or ones that are "cold" takes more time to be as effective. It results in removing about 75-85% of the deposits.

EVALUATING THE CONDITION OF THE INSTALLATION

Before the cleaning process begins, it is necessary to assume the possibility of its success, the expected results and means used to realize the goal. In special cases, especially when the hydraulic system has a long exploitation period and differentiated composition and structure of the deposits, it is necessary to perform the evaluation of the technical state of the installation. This allows to precisely analyze every case and apply a specific rescue process to the individual case.

In every situation LEMAT determines the need of performing the expertise, after taking into consideration the following conditions:
- The type and age of the installation
- The technical state of the installation
- The technical solutions used in the project, the applied materials and technology
- The type of service

Carrying out the evaluation consists of:
- Analyzing and grading the technical condition of the system
- Taking representative cuts (slices) of the installation for further analysis
- Macroscopic evaluation of the pipe slices, which leads to determining the stage and type of contamination of the installation
- Etching the pipe slices and estimating the depth of the corrosive losses
- Examination of the deposits' susceptibility to dissolving
- Creating the project of modernization of the installation

The experience we have gained throughout many years shows that none of the methods of cleaning the installations from sediments and results of corrosion guarantees a positive long-term effect. Flushing and flow restoring brings a visible, however only short-term improvement. Shortly these effects disappear due to increased intensity of the corrosive processes. However, LEMAT created complex and extremely efficient technologies, allowing the restoration of full efficiency of the installation with anti-corrosion protection for many years. Our philosophy treats the chemical cleaning as the first step of the process of securing from corrosion older installations that had been used for a longer period of time. The final stage of this process is equipping these installations in the special system of electrochemical corrosion protection LEMAT-2. LEMAT is the only firm in Poland to offer such uncompromising, wide approach to the problem of fighting corrosion. THE LEMAT PROTECTIVE TECHNOLOGIES allow significant prolongation of efficiency and vitality of the hydraulic systems.
More information about these technologies is available in our office and on our website other pages.

THE CLEANING PREPARATION - HYDROKOMPLEKSON

1.GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS.

The preparation is applied as a homogeneous, condensed water solution, which needs to be thinned down before being applied into the installation. Its basic component are non-toxic organic components.

2.CHEMICAL COMPOSITION.

Acidic etching solution with addition of inhibitors of corrosion. It is a mixture of organic acids, detergents, modifiers and inhibitors of corrosion.

3.PHYSICOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS.

- Physical formclear liquid, slightly straw-coloured
- Density1,16-1,17 kg/m3
- pH<1
- Boiling temperatureabout 110 i°C
- Solubilitymixes with water
- Flammabilitynot flammable

4.SAFETY MEASURES.

Requires usage of individual safety means (protective clothes, glasses and rubber gloves). If the ventilation is insufficient, it is required to wear protective masks (with gas filters type E).

5.STORING CONDITIONS.

The preparation must be kept in accordance with the rules for harmful substances, in closed, plastic containers resistant to the effects of the content.

6.HANDLING THE WASTE MATERIAL AFTER FLUSHING.

The preparation that has reached the pH level of 7 may be, due to its natural biodegradation, poured to the canalization system.

FACTORS INFLUENCING THE ESTIMATION OF THE COSTS OF EVALUATION AND CHEMICAL CLEANING

The costs of chemical cleaning depend on the volume of the installation. The price of cleaning 1m3 of water and the cost of a typical evaluation are listed in the LEMAT price list. If the need of performing an extended evaluation occurs, its cost is settled individually.
